Crisis UK

Our stories prove it is possible to end homelessness

Crisis UK is the national charity for people experiencing homelessness. They help people out of homelessness and campaign for the changes needed to solve it altogether. We’ve helped with multiple storytelling campaigns for online, advertising and fundraising. And to lobby for change in government policy.

Challenge

Supporting people with lived experience to share their stories is really key to our mission to end homelessness at Crisis UK. Bringing stories to life through the voices of those who have or continue to experience homelessness continues to be our best way to make a difference.

Care is taken to represent contributors with dignity and respect. In the language used, their portrayal in visuals and the balanced demographic representation.

Solution

Multiple campaigns, all with a common storytelling element

Outcome

During this period, the Crisis campaigns helped end homelessness sustainably for over 2,000 individuals. Over 3,000 individuals accessed Christmas services. Almost 6,000 people received intensive one-to-one support to help end their homelessness. Over 800 people accessed learning services on subjects like employment and tenancy. More than 4,500 volunteered to help Crisis support over the Christmas period. Our storytelling work contributed to the success of these combined campaigns and impact areas.

“The team were excellent at producing ideas for creative shots to help tell the person's story in a dignified and compelling way, while also being open to their ideas and working collaboratively. They produced some top class content that has really helped us get across the message that it is possible to end homelessness!”
