Ministry of Stories

Showcasing young peoples’ writing on National Poetry Day

The MoS helps young people to write brighter futures for themselves through the power of their ideas and imagination. Co-founded by author Nick Hornby in 2010, they operate a magical monster shop in Hoxton Street, Tower Hamlets and run as a non-profit. In this project we produced a podcast episode, promotional video content for the Monster Shop and social media coverage.

Challenge

Showcasing young peoples’ literary masterpieces on National Poetry Day. Activating and driving footfall to a pop-up shop in central London. Fundraising for the charity and raising awareness to encourage volunteering.

Solution

Recording a video podcast, aired on National Poetry day to showcase works from the young writers. Topics included rewriting the UN Human Rights definitions from the youths’ point of view. Video snippets were also shared to cover social media channels and drive listeners to the audio podcast.

The team also supported Hoxton Street Monster Supplies Pop-up store in central London by filming and editing promotional content to activate and drive traffic at Halloween.

Outcome

The shop secured its highest ever turnover for the year, enabling the Ministry of Stories to increase donations to their charity.

The podcast was great for raising awareness of what the Ministry of Stories does for young people in Hackney and Tower Hamlets.

“This kind of production and storytelling often falls out of reach for charities like ours due to the costs involved and we appreciate the time and expertise offered to us pro bono.”
